Easter 2009!

HAPPY EASTER FROM THE MEYER FAMILY!
We kicked off our Easter by opening up a wonderful Easter surprise box we got from Ms. Becky and family!! My kids LOVE Ms. Becky. She is like an Aunt to them and showers them with goodies. Anytime we get a box on the front porch they always assume that it's from Ms. Becky!
On Friday we colored our Easter eggs. Brandon was at a birthday party so he missed it and Kaila was still out with friends so she missed coloring eggs too! Sean, Brett and Michael seemed to enjoy their time together.Their masterpieces that were later turned into Sean's favorite---Deviled Eggs!

Then on Saturday Kaila and I got up at 4:00 AM to attend the Susan G Komen - Race for the Cure in Fort Worth. Over 17,000 people were in attendance! We were there volunteering through our charity group - National Charity League, Inc. Keller Chapter. We were their "CHEER CREW". It was so much fun cheering on racers as they started and then we ran to the finish line to cheer them all on to the finish. We screamed "Great Job, You did it!" for almost 2 hours straight! What an amazing day to be a part of something like that. We are looking forward to doing it again!
We did get home just in time for our "Neighborhood Easter Party". That's me pictured with the cutest Easter Bunny---any guesses on what beautiful, brown eyed girl was inside???
Before the party was over the parents participated in a balloon blowing contest. We had to blow a balloon up, tie it and give it to our kid who then had to run down, pop it and run back. That's my neighbor Heather in the black. Her son, Brooks and Brandon are friends and we were all competing against each other. Thank goodness Heather can not tie a knot in a balloon : ) Because if she had tied the knot correctly I would have lost! Momma came through for her boys!! I won all 3 times! Blowing air....I can do that....just don't ask Heather and I to race on kids toys...we are accident prone.

Easter Morning---3 boys were happy it was Easter. The oldest child, Miss Kaila felt she was too big to hunt for Easter eggs. But she was informed that if she did not participate, then she would not get to enjoy what was in the eggs.
I had to grab her to take a picture because she was not thrilled about being up so early! (I wish you could have seen how many eggs she had in that bag! For someone who did not want to play....she had a lot of eggs!)
The kids went through 5 clues from the Easter Bunny and finally found their baskets! I think they all had fun!
To end our Easter celebration Michael pulled strawberries from our backyard and found this strawberry....what does it look like to you?

Spring Break 2009

Michael took the week off to be home with the kids during Spring Break. We didn't go anywhere, but we spent some great family time together! We are usually together all the time but this past week was nice because we didn't have to be anywhere! We stayed up late, slept in, ate out, ran errands, played Wii, and just enjoyed our days. I love when Michael is off because that means I'm off....he made breakfast (french toast, pancakes, crepes), he took us out to eat, and cleaned up the kitchen after cooking. I have to brag....he is a keeper!

We signed Brett and Sean up to play indoor soccer too! Sean was ready, but I had to bribe Brett with a Webkinz. They will play on the same team (U5/U6) this season. I can't wait to see them play! Just watching them in the backyard has been fun. We bought new shoes, shin guards and soccer balls for them. They put on Brandon's old jersey's and shorts everyday!

Kaila took on a few pet sitting jobs over Spring Break. I was very impressed with her. She had to get up every morning to let dogs out at 7 AM (she did this all on her own even when we didn't go to bed until 2 AM.)

Brandon got a break from soccer so he enjoyed running around the neighborhood with his friends or sleeping over at friends when he knew we didn't have anything exciting planned.

Brett has been asking Michael to go fishing for a year now. I'm not sure why he wanted to but we finally dug out fishing rods from Gramps' attic and took all of them. We didn't catch any fish, but they all had fun casting and reeling. I enjoyed sitting and watching. The weather was beautiful that day!

Be sure to check out the slide show below to see some fun moments captured.

My Boo is growing up!

All my babies are growing up! My little "Boo" aka Brandon was the 2nd child to get braces in the family. He had top and bottom put on along with an expander. We have to crank the expander 28 times total. 2 times a day for a total of 28.
He has been a trooper! To have all that in his mouth, I have been extremely impressed with him. He hasn't complained about pain or getting canker sores. He just sticks a glob of wax on his braces and off he goes. I can tell the braces has already changed the look of his face. His baby face is going away and his older look is forming.
Can you all imagine how I'm going to be when we send Kaila off to college??? Watch out! Because I'll turn 40 that year too....!

Happy Birthday Brett! (March 11th)

My little baby boy turned 5 on March 11th. I can't believe it!
He has been counting down the days and it finally arrived. He took cupcakes to school to share with all his friends. I asked him what he wanted for dinner and he informed me that we were going to "Chili's" for dinner because they knew it was his birthday. He said "They know it's my birthday and they have my chocolate cake."
I told him "Kaila is making a cake for you."
He said "I want my chocolate cake!"
So you can guess where we went. As we finished our dinner he kept asking us "Where is my cake?" We told him that we think they forgot. He said, "No...you have to remind them."
Then out they come singing with this huge Chocolate molten cake! (Which Kaila and I did not get ANY because we gave up chocolate for Lent!!) But we were smart and made a vanilla birthday cake :)

Brett's Grandma and Gramps came out after dinner to shower him with birthday presents and have cake. Brett said he loved all his gifts (he was really easy to please.)
Mrs. Becky our favorite friend who sends the Meyer gifts every year sent the cutest "Shining Star" to Brett. He loved it! The kids get excited when the doorbell rings around holidays or birthday's because they know Mrs. Becky has sent them something fun and wonderful!

This is the LAST year that Sean and Brett get birthday presents on the other ones birthday. I think they are old enough now! (matching bathrobes)
How sad is this? I took 3 months of Cake decorating classes and this is what we come up with? Actually, Kaila just loves to bake, so she gets to make all the treats for the family. Someday, someone will ask me to make a fancy cake for them.

Playing with new software!

Good grief...it's just a hair cut!

Good grief....why on earth is it so horrible to get a hair cut around here? Kaila begs to get her hair cut, but not Brandon. He runs in the opposite direction. It's not like we have to leave the house, Michael cuts his hair for him and it literally takes about 15 minutes.
I'm not one of those moms who let my kids grow their hair the way they want it. So of course Brandon was not too happy when I made him get a hair cut. His long hair is a distraction when he plays soccer, so during Soccer season......bzzzzzz...off it goes!
This is what I had to deal with after the hair cut. I came around the corner and he was wearing this beanie hat. He sulked for hours. Thank goodness it was almost bed time!

I just love Card Swaps!

I had a little free time and finished a Card Swap that I was doing with a friend. She always does GREAT work, I think I created about 6 cards that I didn't like before I finally made 2 that I did like!
I had to make 10 cards total. It was nice to have some quite time in my craft room and just create. I don't get that too often.

Celebrating 17 Years with my wonderful husband.

I can't believe it's been 17 years!
I met Michael 17 and a half years ago. I had a long time boyfriend from high school and we broke up. Of course I thought it was the end of the world. (I was only 19...you remember those days, right?) My friend at work said "You are going to go out with this guy that my boyfriend works with."
Michael calls me on the phone, we had never met, but his friend said I was a brunette and I guess Michael liked brunettes. Our first blind date was on July 4, 1991. My friends laughed at us because we were already holding hands on our first date. Michael actually went home that night and told his parents that he met a girl.....and she was the one. He knew he was going to ask me to marry him. (I'm sure his parents were surprised!! As was his sister whom he talked to all the time and this was the first she had heard of me.----that's because we just met!)
So our first date was July 4, 1991. He asked me to marry him on August 16, 1991 just 1 month after we met. We were married 6 months later on February 15, 1992!
I have to say each year just keeps getting better and better. I thank God for him everyday. Michael is truely an amazing husband who continues to want to make me happy on a daily basis, is a wonderful Dad and the best friend I could ever ask for. Because of him I have 4 beautiful blessings and can honestly say "I live a blessed life."
Here's to many more years!

Catching up in February!

Kaila is taking a photo journalism class at school. Her first assignment was to take pictures of people. Here is 1/2 of our kids on the street! They are all great kids and have fun playing with Kaila. Kaila babysits them all too!

Next is the 100th day of school for Sean! February 5th. He had to create a board that had 100 things on it. So I took him to the craft section of Walmart and he decided on "googly eyes". I decided on the black with orange (Michael was happy with it too...GO POKES!) Pictures below are of Sean and his favorite teacher and his favorite school friend!

Then on February 9th the school had a 50's day. This is my little Fonzie!

Valentine's Day parties at school...Happy Early Valentine's Day! I have always sent in treats for each special party the kids have at school. They just love being able to give things to their friends. I was trying to keep the cost down since all 4 are in school now!! After Christmas I found "Spree" candy canes. (they were colorful and sweet, not peppermint.) I bought 144 candy canes total to make Candy Cane hearts! Cost to make 72 candy canes was $2.47....can't beat that!

Sean and Brett took enough for the class and teachers, and Kaila got a few too. Brandon took fun dips. Everyone left the house happy campers today and came home with a ton of new candy and treats.
Sunday the 15th will be Michael and I's "17th" Wedding Anniversary! WOO HOO! Still going strong. I'm looking forward to many more with him.
Alright that wraps up half of February.

Kids Favorite Hoodies

I have been meaning to share this with everyone for awhile!
For Christmas Sean and Brett each recieved two hoodies from their Uncle Steve, Aunt Bethany, Cousin Anna who live in PA and Cousin Mason who is in OK.

They are the cutest things ever! I have had so many people ask me where did they get them. They both love wearing them to school and to the store (hood fully zipped over their faces too....we get alot of stares and giggles.) Look closely...You can see Sean's eyes in the correct spot in the Red jacket. Now look at where Brett's eyes are in the blue jacket.
